CBD Isolate Slab

Everything You Need To Know About CBD Isolate Slabs

Introduction

Cannabidiol is a non-psychoactive compound found in the hemp plant that has many of the same properties found in THC, which is the psychoactive compound. Hemp plants are bred for their CBD production and fibers, and they are naturally low in CBD, which makes them the perfect choice for obtaining CBD isolate.

Isolate can be found in many forms including powdered and slab. It is made in the same way that shatter is made, but it removes the plant terpenes which reduces the flavor to practically nothing while retaining all the symptom-relieving effects for medicinal use.

Isolate in slab form is more desirable to those who prefer to do dabs, as this provides a more convenient form of consumption compared to the typical powder.

CBD Isolate Powder vs. Slab

If you are new to the world of isolates, you may be wondering the difference between powdered and slab form. Isolate is a general descriptor that doesn’t refer to any specific type of manufacture. Isolates can be a viscous liquid or more crystalline, which can then be formed into slabs with a mixture of plant terpenes to create shatter.

It is worth noting that CBD distillate is full spectrum, whereas CBD isolate is a 99% pure form of CBD that doesn’t contain any THC. The difference here is distillate still comprises some trace amounts of THC, whereas isolate has wholly removed the THC compound from the plant.

Raw Slab vs. Infused Slabs

Raw slabs are formed and utterly flavorless because they have no added terpenes. Terpenes are responsible for the flavor and aroma of cannabis, and they can be re-introduced to the isolate during creation for some unique flavors in the resulting product.

Raw slab isolate is typically less expensive because fewer steps go into creating the product than a terpene-infused product. However, if you want something that has the flavor profile of marijuana, then you will want to consider terpene-infused isolate. These infused slabs often include the aroma profile of favorite strains like Girl Scout Cookies, Strawberry Cough, and Gorilla Glue.

Terpenes are actively being studied and have been classified into a wheel of flavor notes that are divided into four categories including sweet, sour, spicy, and bitter.

Effects of CBD Slabs

Isolate slabs are more useful for dabbing, which is their primary use. If you would like to create your own CBD edibles and products, you can dissolve slab isolate in a high-fat oil like coconut oil to create an infused oil for various cooking recipes.

A good recipe to follow for this is 250mg of isolate per 1 oz. of oil that you will be infusing. Mix the two and shake it up well to create a bottle of infused oil that can be used in any recipe to deliver the benefits of CBD.

Keep in mind if you are baking edibles that you should not raise the oven temperature above 300 degrees or you will begin to destroy the compounds. Recipes that recommend a higher temperature can be lowered to 300 degrees and cooked longer than the recipe states.
